CMG Secures Exclusive Media Rights for 2024 Paris Olympics in Chinese Mainland and Macao

China Media Group (CMG) has announced comprehensive copyright protection measures for the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympic Games, set to take place from July 26 to August 11 in Paris, France.

Under an agreement with the International Olympic Committee, CMG holds exclusive rights for all media and sub-licensing for the Games within the Chinese mainland and the Macao Special Administrative Region (MSAR). This strategic move ensures that authorized platforms will provide secure and high-quality coverage of the event.

CMG has authorized Migu, a subsidiary of China Mobile Communications Corporation (CMCC-Migu), to deliver live broadcasts, delayed broadcasts, video on demand, and short videos of the Games. Additionally, popular video platforms Douyin and Kuaishou, along with internet giant Tencent, will offer video on demand and short video content. Traditional television broadcasts will be available on the Sports Leisure Channel of Beijing Radio and Television Station, the Five-Star Sport News Channel of Shanghai Media Group, and Guangdong TV Sports Channel, excluding new media platforms.

To enhance the viewing experience, CMG is collaborating with China Film Group Corporation to provide live viewing services for the Paris Olympics in select theaters nationwide. This partnership aims to bring the excitement of the Games to a broader audience through diverse viewing options.

CMG has emphasized that unauthorized use of the Games' audio and video content is strictly prohibited across all platforms, including television, radio, the Internet, mobile networks, and internet TV. This includes live broadcasts, on-demand services, video downloads, and public place broadcasts. The organization warns against any form of unfair competition or covert marketing activities that exploit Olympic media rights.

In response to potential infringements, CMG has launched a special copyright protection campaign. The group is committed to collaborating with various parties to strengthen rights protection efforts and will implement effective legal measures to address any violations. This initiative underscores CMG's dedication to safeguarding the integrity and value of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games program.
