IOC Chief Thomas Bach Highlights Olympic Legacy at Sorbonne Visit

In a move to honor the rich history of the Olympic Games, International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach visited Sorbonne University. This visit marks a significant milestone, celebrating 130 years since French nobleman Pierre de Coubertin founded the IOC and initiated the Modern Olympic Movement.

Baron de Coubertin established the IOC in 1894 with the vision of reviving the Olympic Games. Just two years later, in 1896, the first revived Olympics were held in Athens, paying homage to the event's ancient Greek origins. The legacy continued as the second edition of the Games took place in Paris in 1900, further cementing the global significance of the Olympics.

Bach's visit to the historic Sorbonne University serves as the first step in reviving the Games, emphasizing the enduring impact of Coubertin's vision on today's international sporting community.
