France is gearing up to host and defend their men's volleyball gold at the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris, set to commence on July 27.
After their remarkable victory over the Russian Olympic Committee in Tokyo 2021, where they clinched their first-ever Olympic gold by overcoming four-time quarterfinalists, the French team is determined to keep the medal on home soil.
\"It is true that having won already will put a target on our back from the start,\" said Kevin Tillie, a key player from the 2021 championship team. \"Playing at home adds both pressure and motivation. With the support of our fans, we believe the pressure will ease quickly and create an incredible atmosphere.\"
Tillie reflects on the team's growth, noting the blend of experienced veterans and new, younger talent. \"We've grown older and have more experience now. The core remains the same, but the infusion of younger players brings fresh energy and renewal to the team,\" he explained.
France is placed in Pool A alongside Serbia, Slovenia, and Canada, promising exciting matchups as they strive for consecutive Olympic triumphs.
