China Media Group Establishes National Esports Institute to Boost Digital Sports Industry

China Media Group (CMG) has taken a significant step in advancing China's burgeoning esports industry by establishing the National Institute for Esports Development in Beijing's Xicheng District. The inauguration ceremony, attended by key figures including Shen Haixiong, vice minister of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and president of CMG, Sun Shuo, CPC Secretary of Xicheng District, and Xue Jijun, the institute's head, marked a pivotal moment for the digital sports sector.

Esports, recognized as a dynamic blend of sports, culture, technology, and media, is rapidly expanding its influence within the digital economy. Xue Jijun emphasized that the institute's creation aligns with CMG's strategic focus on \"5G+4K/8K+AI\" technologies, aiming to foster the growth of esports events across China. This initiative is expected to enhance industry collaboration, expand international communication, and innovate cultural exchange through the universal language of esports.

Sun Shuo highlighted the vital role of the digital economy in powering China's economic growth and driving high-quality development, positioning esports as a key component of the Xicheng District's \"4+N\" development strategy. The district aims to partner with the institute to further stimulate the esports sector and establish a hub for national industries such as animation, video games, and esports.

In a congratulatory message, David Lappartient, chairperson of the IOC Esports Commission, underscored the importance of the institute's mission to guide the sustainable development of the esports industry globally. He expressed confidence that the institute will effectively disseminate Olympic values through the promotion of esports in China.
