Xu Jiayu Sets Sights on Olympic Gold in Paris

China's renowned backstroke specialist, Xu Jiayu, is gearing up for the upcoming Paris Olympics with determination and ambition. At 28, Xu has already etched his name in Olympic history, securing silver medals in the 100m backstroke at Rio 2016 and in the 4x100m mixed medley at the Tokyo Olympics.

Despite a challenging performance at the London 2023 Olympics, Xu has demonstrated resilience and unwavering commitment to his sport. His recent triumph at the Hangzhou Asian Games, where he clinched gold in the men's 100m backstroke with a remarkable time of 52.05 seconds, highlights his enduring prowess in the pool.

Moreover, during China's National Swimming Championships in April, which served as the Olympic trials, Xu continued to excel by winning the 100m backstroke with a time of 52.39 seconds, ranking him fourth globally for the year. He closely competed with American swimming sensation Ryan Murphy, who recorded a time of 52.22 seconds.
