Chinese triple jumper Zhu Yaming has made significant strides in his athletic career, rising to the top tier of the sport after earning China's first silver medal in the triple jump at the 2021 Tokyo Summer Olympics. His momentum continued as he secured a bronze medal at the World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon, in July 2022.
Speaking with China Media Group (CMG), Zhu emphasized the value of training alongside international athletes. \\"I have trained with foreign athletes for so many years, and I realized that we are as good as them,\\" he stated. \\"I think I'm good. We do better than them in certain areas.\\"
At the Tokyo Olympics, Zhu achieved a jump of 17.57 meters and initially believed he could have performed better. Reflecting on his performance, he now feels fortunate to have excelled under the circumstances, calling the Tokyo Games a \\"perfect edition of the Olympics for me.\\"
Having turned 30 in May, Zhu feels he has been in his prime since the Tokyo Games and anticipates maintaining his top form for at least another year. As he prepares for the Paris Olympics, Zhu is set to compete in the Chinese National Athletics Championships in Rizhao, Shandong Province, at the end of June. This event will serve as a crucial warm-up.
Despite facing several injuries during his winter training camp, Zhu managed to overcome these challenges, boosting his confidence ahead of his journey to Paris. \\"I'm in the best form at the moment because I have a peaceful mindset,\\" Zhu explained to CMG. \\"If I hadn't gone through the injuries, I would have been under a lot of pressure from the goal of competing for a medal or even a gold in Paris. Instead, now I think it's already a success for me to be able to display my best form at the Paris Games.\\"
