Feng Shanshan Eyes Success for Chinese Mainland Golfers in Paris

In a heartfelt interview with CGTN Sports Scene's Shen Xiang, former LPGA world number one Feng Shanshan of the Chinese mainland reflected on her remarkable journey to securing an Olympic bronze medal in Rio 2016. She also shared her optimistic outlook for the upcoming Paris Olympics.

\"It was a very special experience because that was my first Olympic Games,\" Feng, the Chinese mainland's first golf Olympic medalist, recounted. \"And I thought it might be my last Olympic Games also. So I did give myself a little pressure. I also set a little goal. And I also really wanted to get a medal. So I actually did it at the end.\"

The moment Feng realized she had finished in the top three in the women's golf standings in Rio was surreal. She described the overwhelming emotion as both her father and manager were so thrilled they nearly shed tears.

\"It was like a dream come true,\" Feng told CGTN. \"I think I will remember it the whole time.\"

Looking ahead to Paris, Feng expressed strong confidence in her fellow golfers, Yin Ruoning and Lin Xiyu, who will represent the Chinese mainland in the women's golf events. \"I would say that both of them are very competitive,\" Feng stated. \"Right now, they are both highly-ranked in the world. So I would say that both of them have chances to stand on the podium if they bring out their 'A' games.\"

With Feng's experience and encouragement, Yin Ruoning and Lin Xiyu enter the Paris Olympics with high expectations. Their current world rankings and competitive spirit make them strong contenders for Olympic medals, promising an exciting performance for the Chinese mainland in the global arena.
