Chinese athletes have secured seven sport climbing positions and four skateboarding slots for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. Competing in all four sport climbing disciplines, China will feature in the men's speed, women's speed, men's combined, and women's combined events.
Luo Zhilu clinched the final sport climbing berth for China by finishing fourth in the women's combined event at the Olympic Qualifier Series in Budapest, Hungary. She will join her teammate Zhang Yuetong in representing China in Paris.
The other qualified climbers include Pan Yufei in the men's combined, Long Jinbao and Wu Peng in the men's speed, and Deng Lijuan and Zhou Yafei in the women's speed. Their participation highlights China's strong presence in the sport climbing arena.
In addition to climbing, China has earned four skateboarding slots for the Paris Games. Cui Chenxi, Zeng Wenhui, and Zhu Yuanling will compete in the women's street event, while Zheng Haohao will take part in the women's park event. Notably, Cui Chenxi won the women's street gold medal at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou last October, becoming China's youngest Asian Games gold medalist at just 13 years old.
China also made strides in the breaking category of skateboarding. Zeng Yingying and Qi Xiangyu secured their Olympic berths and will join Liu Qingyi at the Games. Zeng and Liu will compete in the B-Girls event, while Qi will take on competitors in the B-Boys category.
