Zheng Qinwen Shines with 23 Aces to Defeat Naomi Osaka at Berlin Open

In a thrilling encounter at the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) 500 Berlin Open, China's rising star Zheng Qinwen showcased her formidable skills by defeating former world No. 1 Naomi Osaka of Japan. The match, which spanned 130 minutes, concluded with Zheng securing a three-set victory of 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.

Zheng's performance was nothing short of spectacular, as she delivered a season-high 23 aces, the most hit in a WTA Tour-level match this season. This achievement surpassed the previous record of 19 aces set by Karolina Pliskova during her match against Anna Kalinskaya in Doha.

With this win, Zheng has now improved her head-to-head record against Osaka to 2-1, her second triumph of the season over the Japanese player following their clash on clay at the WTA Italian Open in Rome last month.

Reflecting on her journey, Zheng stated, \"I've played against her already on all different surfaces—hard, clay, and now grass court. She's a tough opponent in the first round. I'm happy that I gave my best today and got my first win at this tournament in three years.\" She further added, \"The last two years, when I came on grass, I was a little bit lost.\"

Zheng's impressive display at the Berlin Open not only highlights her growing prowess on the court but also underscores her ability to adapt and excel across various playing surfaces. As the tournament progresses, fans eagerly anticipate more stellar performances from this talented athlete.
