Nagelsmann Lauds Germany’s Youth and Veteran Blend Ahead of Euro 2024 Clash

Julian Nagelsmann, the coach of Germany, expressed his admiration for the team’s balanced lineup of seasoned veterans and talented young players ahead of Wednesday’s group match against Hungary in the UEFA European Championship.

With ten of Germany’s 26 players being 30 or older, they hold the title of the oldest squad in the tournament. Despite the average age, the team’s young stars, including Florian Wirtz (21), Jamal Musiala (21), and Kai Havertz (25), showcased their prowess by delivering a stellar performance in the 5-1 victory over Scotland during the Euro 2024 opener.

“We have to find new solutions because we're the oldest squad, we need to have more younger players in the future. But for this tournament, it's the perfect mix and we can be very successful,” Nagelsmann stated. He emphasized the importance of blending experienced players with young, talented ones. “It's always good to have a good mix in your team between experienced players and young, talented players. I think it's important that the young players are open-minded, listen to the older players with experience, to improve,” he added.
