Three-time badminton world champion Huang Yaqiong is gearing up for her second Olympic appearance in Paris, determined to surpass her performance from Tokyo three years ago.
In the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, the 30-year-old narrowly missed out on gold alongside her partner Zheng Siwei in the mixed doubles final. After exploring new partnerships briefly, Huang and Zheng reunited in 2022, quickly regaining their top form.
The duo heads to France boasting an impressive record of 38 consecutive victories and holding the world number one spot for the sixth consecutive season. With three world championships under their belt, Zheng and Huang are poised to make a strong bid for gold in Paris.
Reflecting on their past Olympic experience, Huang shared her aspirations for the upcoming games. \"During the last Olympics, I was very cautious in everything I did because I wanted to win too much, which had a counter-productive effect. I was often anxious, which is not like me at all, I'm a very calm person. For this Olympics, I want to be myself again,\" she explained.
