Steelers Extend Contract with NFL’s Longest-Tenured Coach Mike Tomlin

The Pittsburgh Steelers have announced a three-year contract extension for head coach Mike Tomlin, solidifying his position as the NFL's longest-tenured sideline boss. This extension underscores the team's confidence in Tomlin's leadership and his pivotal role in their sustained success over the past 17 years.

\"Mike Tomlin's leadership and commitment to the Steelers have been pivotal to our success during his first 17 years as head coach,\" said Steelers team president Art Rooney II. \"Extending his contract for three more years reflects our confidence in his ability to guide the team back to winning playoff games and championships, while continuing our tradition of success.\"

Before the new deal, Tomlin was set to enter the final season of his three-year contract signed in 2021, marking the beginning of his 18th campaign as head coach. Under his guidance, the Steelers have made the playoffs in 11 of the past 17 seasons, including two Super Bowl appearances and a Vince Lombardi Trophy win in the 2008 season.

Despite a challenging 2023 season, where the Steelers secured a playoff spot with three consecutive regular-season wins but were ultimately defeated by the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Wild Card Game, the team remains optimistic about the future under Tomlin's continued leadership.
