Jannik Sinner Claims ATP World No.1, Eyes Wimbledon Next

In a historic moment for Italian tennis, Jannik Sinner has ascended to the top of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) world rankings, becoming the first player from his country to achieve this milestone since the rankings began in 1973.

\"I was happy, and then it's kind of a relief,\" Sinner shared in an interview from his home in Monte Carlo. \"This is a dream, what I've dreamed of when I was a little kid. It was only a dream that day and then, and now that I can say that I'm world number one, it means a lot to me.\"

Despite the significant achievement, Sinner is already setting his sights on the next challenge: Wimbledon. As the top-seeded man at the prestigious All England Club tournament starting July 1, he is determined to build on his success.

Sinner’s rise to the top spot, replacing the injured Novak Djokovic, comes on the heels of his first Grand Slam title at the Australian Open in January. With a stellar 33-3 record in 2024 and three titles under his belt, Sinner is entering Wimbledon with confidence and a clear focus on innovation and adaptability on the court.

\"They don't have nothing to lose anymore against me, and I have everything to lose, but this is the exciting part. And I like that,\" Sinner explained. \"You have to work on having new solutions on the court, and this is going to be hopefully my next step. Trying to prepare myself in a way of being more unpredictable on court. This is what I want to learn in the next months.\"

Looking forward, Sinner emphasizes the importance of continuous improvement and resilience. \"Every tournament is a great opportunity to show something new and to show, also, the will to win as much as we can. But you don't forget, also, the process. If you want to become a better tennis player, sometimes you have to miss. Sometimes you have to lose,\" he remarked.

As Jannik Sinner embarks on this new chapter as ATP World No.1, the global tennis community eagerly anticipates his performance at Wimbledon and beyond.
