Kyrie Irving Reflects on Celtics Tenure Ahead of NBA Finals

Kyrie Irving of the Dallas Mavericks opened up about his past with the Boston Celtics, who will be his opponents in the upcoming NBA Finals. Irving stated that his time with the Celtics was \"not a great reflection\" of who he is.

In 2017, Irving requested a trade from the Cleveland Cavaliers to join the Celtics. During his tenure with Boston, he averaged 24.1 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 6.1 assists per game in the regular season. In the playoffs, his performance included 21.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, and seven assists per game before his departure in 2019.

Irving missed a significant portion of the 2018 season due to a minimally invasive procedure to remove a tension wire from his left knee, preventing the Celtics from advancing further in the playoffs that year. Although he returned for the postseason in 2019, the Celtics were eventually ousted by the Milwaukee Bucks with a series score of 4-1 in the Eastern semifinals.
