Giannis Antetokounmpo to Lead Greece in Olympic Qualifiers

Basketball fans worldwide are gearing up for an exciting summer as two-time NBA Most Valuable Player Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks prepares to represent Greece in the upcoming pre-Olympic qualifying tournament.

Coach Vassilis Spanoulis announced on Sunday that Giannis will don the Greek national team jersey in July's crucial competition. Greece, a traditional powerhouse in European basketball, hasn't competed in the Summer Olympic Games since 2008. Their recent performance at the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup saw them exit in the second group stage, missing out on automatic qualification for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The qualifying tournament will be hosted by Greece and will feature four groups. In Group B, Greece will face Egypt and the Dominican Republic in the preliminary round, competing for a coveted spot in the Olympic Games. Group A includes formidable teams such as Slovenia, New Zealand, and Croatia, promising intense competition ahead.

With Giannis Antetokounmpo leading the charge, Greece hopes to reignite its Olympic dreams and bring home the gold for the nation and its passionate fans.
