The Belgium national team has officially announced their squad for Euro 2024, set to take place in Germany starting June 14. In a surprising move, Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has been excluded from the roster.
Courtois, who is currently gearing up for the Champions League final, has been sidelined for most of the season due to a torn ACL knee injury. Coach Domenico Tedesco explained, \"Of course, he knows his body the best and it's something different to play every three [days], every four [days] during a tournament. So this is the last information that we take into consideration that he's not ready for the Euro. And of course then we planned with the players that are able to play.\"
Stepping into a more prominent role is Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne, who will lead a rejuvenated Belgium side. Adding experience to the mix, Axel Witsel is making a comeback for the tournament. Both De Bruyne and Witsel were included in the 25-man list unveiled by Tedesco on Tuesday.
With key players like De Bruyne and Witsel, Belgium is aiming to make a strong impression at Euro 2024, balancing youthful energy with seasoned expertise.
