Auction house Christie's hosted an exclusive preview event in Geneva, Switzerland, on Thursday, showcasing eight remarkable watches owned by the legendary Formula 1 champion Michael Schumacher. The highly anticipated auction, set to take place on Monday, features timepieces from renowned watchmakers Rolex, F.P. Journe, and Audemars Piguet.
Schumacher's family has entrusted Christie's with the sale of this prestigious collection following the motor racing icon's severe head injury in 2013, which occurred during an off-piste skiing accident. Among the showcased pieces are two custom-made watches, gifted to Schumacher as Christmas presents in 2003 and 2004 by his Ferrari team principal, Jean Todt.
One standout piece is an F.P. Journe watch, intricately designed to celebrate Schumacher's seven Formula 1 driver's championships. This exceptional timepiece is estimated to fetch up to two million Swiss francs ($2.21 million) when it goes under the hammer next week, highlighting the enduring legacy of Schumacher both on and off the racetrack.
