In a significant shake-up within the Formula One world, Red Bull Racing has confirmed that top designer Adrian Newey will be leaving the team in early 2025. This announcement comes amidst ongoing controversies surrounding team principal Christian Horner.
McLaren CEO Zak Brown expressed his concerns during a news conference at the Miami Grand Prix, stating that Newey's departure could be the beginning of a larger exodus from the reigning champions. \"I think the stuff that's going on there is a bit destabilizing. It's probably the first domino to fall,\" Brown remarked. He further speculated, \"My guess is he's not the last based on the resumes that are flying around.\"
The departure follows allegations of sexual harassment and inappropriate behavior against Horner by a female employee. Although an internal investigation by Red Bull's parent company cleared Horner of wrongdoing in February, the employee was subsequently suspended and is now appealing the decision.
This turbulence within Red Bull could signal a period of uncertainty for the team, which has long been a powerhouse in Formula One. The potential for further departures may impact their performance and standing in the competitive F1 landscape.
