16-Year-Old Kris Kim Makes PGA Tour Cut, Youngest Since 2015

Kris Kim, a talented 16-year-old amateur from England, has made headlines by becoming the youngest player in nine years to make the cut at a Professional Golfers' Association (PGA) Tour event. Competing at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson in McKinney, Texas, Kim's remarkable performance marks a significant milestone in his budding golfing career.

During the second round on Friday, Kim showcased his skills with a birdie, finishing the round at 4-under with a score of 67. His cumulative score of 7-under 135 placed him among the 66 players who successfully made the cut, 6 under par, behind tournament leader Jake Knapp, who is ahead with a 14-under 128.

Kris Kim surpasses Kyle Suppa, who was also 16 when he made the cut at the Sony Open in Hawaii in 2015. Additionally, Kim has now outpaced Jordan Spieth, who was just two months shy of his 17th birthday when he made his first PGA Tour start in 2010, finishing tied for 16th at his hometown event.

Kim's journey to this achievement is supported by his background and heritage. He is the son of Ji-Hyun Suh, a former Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Tour player from South Korea. Making his PGA Tour debut, Kim is notably the first amateur sponsored by the South Korean conglomerate CJ Group, which is also the title sponsor of the Nelson event for the first time.

As Kris Kim continues to compete on the PGA Tour, his early success is inspiring young golfers and sports enthusiasts around the world, highlighting the global nature of the sport and the emergence of new talents on the international stage.
