China Dominates Thomas & Uber Cup, Secures Quarter-Final Spots

The Chinese men's and women's teams have advanced to the quarter-finals of the Thomas & Uber Cup, finishing as group leaders with impressive victories over South Korea and India.

In the men's Thomas Cup, China overcame South Korea in a closely contested series, winning 3-2. Despite losing both pairs matches, China's singles players delivered three crucial wins. Shi Yuqi, ranked world No. 2, made a remarkable comeback against South Korea's Jeon Hyeok-jin, securing the match with scores of 21-17 and 21-7 after an initial loss. Although the Chinese pair Kang Min-hyuk and Seo Seung-jae tied the series at 1-1 by defeating Liang Weikeng and Wang Chang, China's Lu Guangzu closed the match with a decisive 21-10, 21-15 victory over Woo Seung-hoon.

Meanwhile, the women's Uber Cup saw China dominate India with a flawless 5-0 sweep, remaining undefeated since the tournament's start. The women's team showcased their strength and depth, ensuring their top position in Group A.

The championships, held in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, mark the 33rd edition of the Thomas Cup and the 30th edition of the Uber Cup. With 16 teams competing in four groups from April 27 to May 5, the event has been a thrilling display of international badminton prowess.

On the men's side, world No. 1 Viktor Axelsen led Denmark into the quarter-finals by defeating Malaysia's Lee Zii Jia 21-16, 24-22, topping Group D. Defending champions South Korea also advanced from Group D after a strong 5-0 victory over Denmark.
