The China Anti-Doping Agency (CHINADA) has announced its active cooperation with the upcoming compliance audit by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). This audit aims to assess CHINADA's anti-doping program in alignment with the World Anti-Doping Code.
In early 2021, a group of Chinese swimmers tested positive for trimetazidine (TMZ), claiming inadvertent exposure to the substance through contamination. Following a thorough review by WADA's Science Department and external legal counsel, it was concluded that the athletes were not at fault or negligent.
In response to allegations questioning WADA's handling of the 2021 contamination case involving 23 Chinese swimmers, WADA has invited independent prosecutor Mr. Eric Cottier to conduct a comprehensive review. CHINADA has expressed its support for this decision, highlighting it as a testament to WADA's commitment to fairness, openness, and transparency. Additionally, CHINADA has pledged to provide necessary assistance throughout the audit process.
