The Philadelphia Eagles have officially secured their star wide receiver, A.J. Brown, with a landmark three-year, $96 million contract extension, according to ESPN on Thursday.
This deal not only sets NFL records for guaranteed money ($84 million) and average annual salary ($32 million) for the wide receiver position but also surpasses the recent extension signed by Amon-Ra St. Brown with the Detroit Lions.
In the 2023 season, Brown delivered impressive performances, recording 106 catches for 1,456 yards and seven touchdowns over 17 games. His consistent performance has been a cornerstone for the Eagles since his trade from the Tennessee Titans and his initial four-year, $100 million contract signed in April 2022. Brown's excellence has been recognized with selections to both the Pro Bowl and the Second-team All-Pro in the past two seasons.
The extension ensures that the Eagles retain their top receiving duo, A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, for the foreseeable future—Smith is secured until 2028, and Brown until 2029. Smith recently agreed to a three-year, $75 million extension, including $51 million guaranteed, last week. Together, Brown and Smith made history by both surpassing 1,000 receiving yards in consecutive seasons (2022 and 2023), a first for the Eagles franchise.
