Blake Griffin Announces Retirement After 13 NBA Seasons

Blake Griffin, former star power forward of the Los Angeles Clippers and the Detroit Pistons, has officially announced his retirement from the NBA. The announcement was made on his Instagram account on Tuesday, marking the end of a notable 13-season career.

In his heartfelt post, Griffin shared, \"I never envisioned myself as the guy who would have a 'letter to basketball' retirement announcement… and I'm still not going to be that guy. But as I reflected my career, the one feeling I kept coming back to and the one thing I wanted to express was thankfulness.\"

Griffin was the first overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft, selected by the Los Angeles Clippers. Unfortunately, his rookie season was cut short as he spent the entire 2009-10 season recovering from surgery on a broken left kneecap. Despite this setback, Griffin went on to have a successful career, with his last NBA game played on April 25, 2023, for the Boston Celtics.

Throughout his career, Griffin was known for his athleticism and charismatic personality on and off the court, making significant contributions to every team he played for. His retirement marks the end of an era for fans and teammates alike, who have admired his dedication and passion for the game.
