Li Wenwen Dominates IWF World Cup with Three Gold Medals

The Chinese mainland's Olympic champion Li Wenwen made a stunning return to the international stage at the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) World Cup in Phuket, Thailand, securing three gold medals in the women’s +87 kilogram category on Wednesday.

Li overcame a significant setback after sustaining an injury to her right elbow during the World Championships in September last year. This injury forced her to withdraw from the Hangzhou Asian Games a month later. Her appearance at the World Cup marked her first competition since the injury, and she did not disappoint.

In an impressive display of strength and resilience, Li lifted 145 kg in the snatch, 180 kg in the clean and jerk, and a total of 325 kg. Her snatch result surpassed her own Olympic record of 140 kg set during the Tokyo Olympics, reaffirming her dominance in the super-heavyweight category.

Li’s achievement not only highlights her exceptional talent and determination but also brings pride to her supporters and the global weightlifting community. As she continues to excel, Li Wenwen remains a formidable force in the world of weightlifting, inspiring young athletes and enthusiasts worldwide.
