In an extraordinary display of endurance and determination, British marathon runner Russ Cook has made history by being the first person to run the entire length of Africa. Completing his 16,000-kilometer journey in Tunisia on Sunday, Cook's 352-day odyssey took him through 16 countries, showcasing his resilience and passion for adventure.
Starting in April from L'Agulhas, Africa's southernmost point, Cook traversed the continent's west coast, passing through Namibia, Angola, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Republic of Congo, Cameroon, Nigeria, Benin, Togo, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Guinea, Senegal, Mauritania, and Algeria before reaching Ras Angela in Tunisia.
Despite facing severe challenges, including being robbed at gunpoint and suffering from food poisoning, Cook remained steadfast in his mission. His perseverance earned him the nickname "Hardest Geezer," and his efforts have also raised over half a million pounds for charity.
Upon completing his historic run, Cook shared his triumph on social media platform X, stating, \"The first person ever to run the entire length of Africa. Mission complete.\" His achievement not only marks a significant milestone in extreme marathon running but also inspires countless individuals to pursue their own challenging goals.
