Paris 2024 Olympics: Opening Ceremony Anchors on River Seine Amid Security Fears

The opening ceremony of the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris is set to take place on the iconic River Seine, with no plans for relocation, city officials confirmed on Friday.

Commencing on July 26, this year's Olympics will mark a historic first as the parade of athletes will sail through the Seine in boats, bypassing the main stadium. This innovative approach aims to provide a unique and scenic experience for both participants and spectators.

However, the decision comes amid heightened security concerns following recent terrorist attacks in Moscow last month. In response, France has elevated its terrorist alert to the highest level, ensuring maximum vigilance during the Games.

Earlier in the week, French President Emmanuel Macron and Sports Minister Amelie Oudea-Castera reiterated that the opening ceremony would proceed as planned. Emmanuel Gregoire, Paris's first deputy mayor, and Pierre Rabadan, deputy mayor in charge of sports, stated at a press briefing that there is no \"Plan B\" for the ceremony's location.
