Liverpool and Bayern Munich Shift Focus from Xabi Alonso in Manager Hunt

Liverpool and Bayern Munich have exited the race to appoint Leverkusen's manager Xabi Alonso as their next head coach this summer. According to reports from ESPN on Thursday, Liverpool CEO Michael Edwards has narrowed down the search to Brighton's Roberto De Zerbi and Sporting CP's Ruben Amorim as the leading candidates to succeed Jurgen Klopp.

Jurgen Klopp, who has been at the helm at Anfield since 2015, announced his decision to step down after the 2023-24 season. Under Klopp's leadership, Liverpool secured their first English top-flight title in the Premier League era, a UEFA Champions League title, and an FA Cup, among other honors. The club is currently in second place in the Premier League with 64 points, trailing leaders Arsenal on goal difference. Additionally, Liverpool has made it to the quarterfinals of the UEFA Europa League.

Bayern Munich, similarly interested in Alonso's managerial prowess, appears to have also moved on from their pursuit. As the football world anticipates the next chapter for both clubs, De Zerbi and Amorim emerge as promising contenders poised to bring fresh strategies and continued success.
