Organizers of a highly anticipated football friendly in Hong Kong are beginning the process of refunding tickets to disappointed fans six weeks after the event. The match, which saw the absence of global superstar Lionel Messi, sparked significant outrage among attendees who were eager to witness the legendary player's performance.
Tatler Asia announced that customers who purchased tickets through official channels are eligible for a 50-percent refund. Some fans who paid up to 4,880 Hong Kong dollars ($625) for their tickets will receive reimbursement according to the organization's statement.
\"Refunds will be processed within 30 days from the April 12, 2024, deadline,\" Tatler Asia stated, assuring fans that those who bought tickets directly from Tatler Asia Limited, including those from event sponsors and partners, will be contacted by dedicated account managers with further information.
The absence of Messi at the February 4 game, where Inter Miami secured a 4-1 victory over a Hong Kong League XI side, left many fans disillusioned. Although the Argentine star attributed his no-show to a groin injury, his participation just three days later in another friendly against Vissel Kobe in Tokyo did little to quell the frustration of Hong Kong supporters.
The organizers hope that the refund process will address the dissatisfaction and restore faith among the fanbase, ensuring continued enthusiasm for future events in the region.
