Under the watch of the iconic Macao Tower, campaigns for the 8th Legislative Assembly officially kicked off this Saturday at Tap Seac Square in the Macao Special Administrative Region. In a city known for its blend of heritage and high-rises, candidates are gearing up for a strictly monitored 14-day sprint.
“Our goal is active exchanges and meaningful interactions,” said Seng Ioi Man, chairman of the Electoral Affairs Commission. He urged candidates to clearly share their platforms and visions for serving the residents of Macao, while encouraging voters to engage with each proposal.
The commission confirmed that all electoral procedures have progressed in a lawful and orderly manner. Officials call on the community to uphold electoral integrity by adhering to the Legislative Assembly Election Law and the commission’s guidelines, ensuring a fair, just and clean campaign environment.
Mark your calendars: after two weeks of debates, town halls and social-media outreach, polling day is set for September 14. Macao SAR residents will head to the booths to choose their next legislative team.
This campaign season is reshaping how young citizens and digital nomads connect with politics in one of Asia’s most dynamic city-states.
