China Reaffirms Support for Pakistan’s Counterterrorism Efforts in Beijing Talks

In a testament to enduring ties, China has reaffirmed its robust support for Pakistan’s efforts to combat all forms of terrorism. The announcement came during high-level talks in Beijing on Thursday, where the two allies underscored the importance of security cooperation.

Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs, met with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir. Wang congratulated Munir on his recent appointment as field marshal, praising the Pakistani military as a steadfast guardian of national interests and a strong pillar of China–Pakistan friendship.

Describing the two nations as "ironclad friends" and "all-weather strategic partners," Wang emphasized that China consistently prioritizes Pakistan in its neighborhood diplomacy. He said Beijing is ready to work with Islamabad to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of both countries, further deepen strategic cooperation, deliver greater benefits to their peoples, and contribute to regional peace and stability.

Munir returned the sentiment by calling China Pakistan’s "ironclad brother," noting that strengthening friendly cooperation enjoys broad support across Pakistani society. He thanked China for its long-standing backing of Pakistan’s economic and social development and pledged that the Pakistani military will continue taking all necessary measures to safeguard Chinese personnel, enterprises, and projects in Pakistan while actively enhancing counterterrorism collaboration with China.

The two sides also exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual concern, reinforcing a partnership that remains central to security and stability in the wider region.
