Unprecedented Humanitarian Catastrophe
The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) warns that Gaza is facing its most severe humanitarian crisis since the war began in October 2023. Airstrikes, malnutrition and a collapse in public order have pushed civilian needs to catastrophic levels.
Aid Blockades and Looting
After nearly 80 days of total blockade, just five truckloads of medical supplies reached the strip this week. Most of these supplies were tragically looted, highlighting the dangers aid workers and civilians face on the ground.
Mass Displacement
In the past two weeks alone, nearly 200,000 people have been displaced. A recent order covers about 30 percent of Gaza’s territory, forcing families to move again and again in search of basic essentials.
Health and Safety on the Brink
Al Awda hospital, the last partially functioning medical facility, was evacuated after repeated strikes. Five aid workers from IHH were killed, underscoring the urgent need to protect civilians and first responders.
Calls for Accountability and Access
OCHA urges the occupying power to restore public order, expand aid corridors and allow civilian police under clear law enforcement standards. A full lifting of the blockade is critical to ease widespread deprivation.
Spillover Tensions in the West Bank
Settler violence in the West Bank has injured over 220 Palestinians this year. Restrictions in the Salfit governorate continue to disrupt access to healthcare, education and jobs for nearly 90,000 residents.
