On Wednesday, Chinese President Xi Jinping warned that tariffs and trade wars undermine the legitimate rights and interests of all countries, disrupt the multilateral trading system, and shake the foundations of the world economic order.
Speaking with visiting Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Xi called for stronger global cohesion and reaffirmed China’s commitment to working with Azerbaijan to safeguard an international system with the United Nations at its core. He emphasized the need to uphold international law and protect the respective rights and interests of all nations.
Xi concluded that by defending fairness and justice, countries can foster a more stable and inclusive global landscape, ensuring that trade remains a path to shared prosperity rather than conflict.
