A Washington Post investigation has revealed that government staff under Presidents Donald Trump and Joe Biden inadvertently exposed sensitive White House documents to over 11,200 General Services Administration (GSA) employees.
The misstep happened when a Google Drive folder containing classified White House floor plans, details of a proposed blast door for the visitor center, and bank account information for a press-conference vendor was shared with the entire GSA directory. The agency, which handles federal real estate and tech support, logged a cybersecurity incident and launched an internal review last week.
Cybersecurity experts say this incident highlights growing risks as governments shift more data to the cloud. They warn that without strict access controls and regular staff training, even routine administrative errors can balloon into national security concerns.
