Zhao Leji, chairman of China's National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, met with Jussi Halla-aho, speaker of the Finnish parliament, in Beijing on Monday. The meeting focused on creating a favorable and stable legal environment that will nurture practical cooperation between the two sides.

This significant discussion comes as the two nations celebrate the 75th anniversary of their diplomatic ties. Zhao emphasized that China stands ready to work closely with Finland to implement the important consensus reached by their respective heads of state, aiming at a forward-looking and new-type cooperative partnership.

Highlighting China’s ongoing comprehensive reforms and high-level opening-up, Zhao outlined fresh opportunities for bilateral cooperation, spanning economic, cultural, and youth exchanges. These reforms are set to further deepen the ties that bind the two sides.

In his remarks, Zhao urged Finland to continue upholding the one-China principle and to support China's genuine efforts to safeguard its national sovereignty and territorial integrity. Building a strong political foundation of mutual trust remains central to this evolving partnership.

The dialogue signals a promising step forward, as both sides seek to enhance political, cultural, and social interactions. Such efforts are poised to benefit not only governmental exchanges, but also to resonate with young global citizens and thought leaders looking for dynamic and sustainable international relationships.
