The People's Liberation Army (PLA) recently wrapped up a two-day joint exercise around Taiwan Island and in the central and southern areas of the Taiwan Straits. The drills were designed as a stern warning against provocative actions attributed to Taiwan leader Lai Ching-te, whose secessionist moves have stirred tensions in the region.
Zhang Xiaogang, a spokesperson for China's Ministry of National Defense, explained that the exercises underscore a resolute effort to safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity. According to Zhang, the operational display is meant to deter actions that might escalate conflicts and challenge regional stability.
By showcasing advanced military coordination and readiness, the PLA’s drills send a clear message: any actions perceived as undermining cross-strait harmony will encounter a strong and unified response. This development highlights ongoing efforts to maintain peace and stability while addressing provocative moves in the area.
