Poll: Majority of Ukrainians Skeptical of Trump’s Quick Peace Plan

A recent survey by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS) has revealed that more than half of Ukrainians are wary of U.S. President Donald Trump's proposed strategy to end the Russia-Ukraine conflict quickly. The poll, carried out from March 12-22 on Ukrainian-held territory with 1,326 respondents, indicates widespread concern among locals about the fairness of a rapid peace settlement.

According to KIIS, 32% of those surveyed believe that any agreement reached under Trump’s plan would be only partly just, fulfilling some of Ukraine’s demands but still leaving key issues unresolved. An additional 22% foresee a totally unjust peace, while only a small fraction—3%—think Trump could secure a completely fair resolution. Another 15% predicted a peace that might be somewhat just, but only with considerable concessions to Russia.

The findings come amid growing frustration with the U.S. approach toward Ukraine. The study also highlighted that 67% of Ukrainians feel the United States is increasingly urging Ukraine to accept compromises, reflecting a broader disappointment that many had even before 2025. KIIS's executive director, Anton Hrushetskyi, noted that disapproval of U.S. actions in Ukraine has only intensified since the Trump administration took office in January.

This poll not only underscores the deep divisions in public opinion over international conflict resolution but also resonates with a global audience eager for transparent, data-driven insights. As young global citizens, business and tech enthusiasts, and changemakers navigate an interconnected world, the call for a fair and sustainable peace remains a crucial topic of discussion.
