In a decisive move, China announced it will implement reciprocal countermeasures after the United States imposed visa restrictions on officials linked to access in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region.
At a regular news briefing, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun condemned the U.S. action, describing it as a gross interference in matters China deems as internal. He insisted that such measures seriously violate international law and the fundamental norms that govern global relations.
Guo emphasized that Xizang remains open to foreign visitors and highlighted that the region welcomed around 320,000 tourists in 2024.
