Israel Receives U.S. Heavy Bombs as Arms Ban Lifted Amid Gaza Conflict

Israel has taken delivery of a shipment of U.S.-made MK-84 heavy bombs after the Trump administration lifted a temporary ban on their transfer, the Israeli Defense Ministry confirmed Sunday. The 907-kilogram unguided munitions, designed to destroy reinforced targets with high-impact blasts, arrived at Ashdod port and were transported to air force bases overnight.

The Biden administration had paused the shipment in 2023 over concerns about civilian casualties in Gaza, where Israeli operations have reportedly killed tens of thousands since October 2023. Defense Minister Israel Katz called the bombs \"a significant asset\" for military operations and thanked U.S. leadership for its \"unwavering support.\"

Footage released by officials showed dozens of trucks moving shipping containers to military facilities. Since the Gaza war began, Israel has received over 76,000 tonnes of military hardware through nearly 700 airlifts and 130 sea shipments.
