Palestinian Presidency Accuses Israel of Ethnic Cleansing in West Bank

The Palestinian presidency has sharply criticized Israel for what it describes as \"ethnic cleansing\" in the West Bank. Speaking on Monday, Nabil Abu Rudeineh, spokesperson for the Palestinian presidency, detailed the severe impact of Israeli military actions in the region.

\"The Israeli aggressive policies in the West Bank have led to the killing of 29 citizens, with hundreds wounded and arrested,\" Abu Rudeineh stated in a press release from the official news agency WAFA. He highlighted the destruction of residential blocks in the Jenin and Tulkarm camps, the displacement of thousands, and the extensive damage to infrastructure.

The spokesperson called on the U.S. administration to intervene immediately to \"stop the ongoing Israeli aggression against Palestinian people and land, which will lead to an explosion of the situation.\"

Since January 21, the Israeli military has been executing a large-scale campaign named \"Iron Wall\" in Jenin and Tulkarm, aiming to dismantle alleged \"terrorist groups\" and maintain control over the occupied territory. On Sunday, the campaign expanded into the northern West Bank.

Mohammed Jarrar, mayor of Jenin, reported that 15,000 residents have been displaced from the Jenin camp due to the ongoing operations. He described the attacks on Jenin and its camp as the \"most dangerous\" in the city's history. Similarly, Tulkarm Governor Abdullah Kamil noted that 48 percent of Tulkarm camp residents have been displaced.

Moreover, the Ramallah-based Palestinian Health Ministry announced that 70 Palestinians have been killed by the Israeli army in the West Bank as of January 2025.
