DPRK Fires Strategic Missiles, Vows Tough Stance on US

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) conducted a strategic cruise missile test on Saturday, state media outlet KCNA reported on Sunday.

Led by Kim Jong Un, the DPRK oversaw the test-fire of an \"important weapon system,\" according to the report. The underwater-to-surface strategic cruise missiles traveled 1,500 kilometers and remained airborne for between 7,507 and 7,511 seconds before reaching their targets.

DPRK Vows 'Counteraction' Against US

In a separate report on Sunday, the DPRK's Foreign Ministry promised the \"toughest counteraction\" against the United States if Washington continues to refuse Pyongyang's sovereignty. The statement attributed the rising regional tensions to the military alliance and joint drills between South Korea and the U.S.

This declaration follows remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump, who indicated during an interview on Thursday his intention to reach out to Kim again, building on their working relationship from Trump's first term.

Kim Jong Un stated that the DPRK's war deterrence capabilities are being \"perfected more thoroughly,\" emphasizing the nation's commitment to strengthening its military. He affirmed that the DPRK will persistently strive to fulfill its mission of defending sustainable and lasting peace and stability through a more powerful military presence in the future.

The missile test is part of the DPRK's broader efforts to enhance national defense capabilities in response to evolving regional security dynamics. Earlier this month, DPRK state media also reported a successful test of a new intermediate-range hypersonic ballistic missile overseen by Kim.
