UAE President Strengthens Support for Syria’s Sovereignty

In a significant diplomatic move, United Arab Emirates (UAE) President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan reaffirmed the UAE's commitment to Syria's independence and sovereignty over its entire territory during a phone call with Syria's de facto leader, Ahmed Al-Sharaa, on Friday, as reported by the Emirates News Agency (WAM).

The conversation between the two leaders focused on enhancing bilateral ties between the UAE and Syria, identifying areas of shared interest to foster deeper collaboration.

President Sheikh Mohamed emphasized the UAE's unwavering support for the Syrian people, underlining the nation's dedication to promoting security, peace, stability, and a dignified life for Syrians amidst ongoing challenges.

This reaffirmation of support comes in the wake of Syria's recent change of government last month, which has triggered a wave of diplomatic activity in the region. Turkish and Qatari delegations have already visited Damascus, while Syria's interim Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shibani has embarked on diplomatic trips to Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, and Jordan. These efforts are aimed at rebuilding ties with key regional powers and advocating for the lifting of Western sanctions.
