Xi Jinping Emphasizes Strong China-Australia Relations at G20 Summit

At the G20 summit in Rio de Janeiro, Chinese President Xi Jinping assured that there is no fundamental conflict of interest between China and Australia. Speaking with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Xi emphasized the importance of mutual respect, equality, and seeking common ground to foster strong relations between the two nations.

Xi highlighted that as long as both countries adhere to these principles, China-Australia relations are set to develop positively. He called for enhanced coordination and cooperation, urging both sides to oppose protectionism and support economic globalization and free trade.

Reflecting on economic ties, Xi noted that over 250 Australian companies participated in this year's China International Import Expo, marking a record high and demonstrating Australian confidence in China's economy. He expressed China's willingness to import more quality Australian products and encourage Chinese investments in Australia, while hoping for a fair and transparent business environment from the Australian side.

The two leaders also discussed building a comprehensive strategic partnership, aiming to bring more stability and certainty to the region and the world. Xi referenced their in-depth discussions last November, which laid the groundwork for the ongoing positive progress in bilateral relations.
