Chinese President Xi Jinping landed in Rio de Janeiro on Sunday at the invitation of Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva for the 19th G20 Summit and a state visit to Brazil.
Upon arrival, Xi was warmly welcomed by senior Brazilian government officials. The Brazilian Air Force conducted a ceremonial salute, and honor guards lined both sides of the red carpet.
This marks Xi's fifth visit to Brazil. In a written statement upon his arrival, he expressed his close connection with the country.
Referring to Brazil as a \"like-minded friend,\" Xi emphasized his hopes that the visit will further enhance China-Brazil relations and promote synergy between the two nations' development strategies.
