China Demands Myanmar Investigate Attack on Consulate in Mandalay

The Chinese Foreign Ministry has called on Myanmar to conduct a thorough investigation into the recent attack on the Chinese Consulate-General in Mandalay. Speaking at a daily press briefing, spokesperson Lin Jian expressed China's deep shock and strong condemnation of the explosion that occurred on October 18.

The incident involved an explosion at an office building adjacent to the Chinese Consulate-General, resulting in partial damage to the structure. Fortunately, there were no casualties reported.

Lin Jian emphasized that China has lodged serious representations with Myanmar, urging the latter to diligently investigate the attack and ensure that those responsible are apprehended and brought to justice in accordance with the law. \"The Chinese side is deeply shocked by the attack and strongly condemns such an act,\" Lin stated.

In response, Myanmar authorities assured that they have implemented a series of measures to enhance the security of Chinese personnel and institutions within the country. They affirmed their commitment to fulfilling their obligations under international law and taking primary responsibility for the safety and security of Chinese entities operating in Myanmar.
