Xi Emphasizes Innovation and Open Reform in China’s Economic Zones

Chinese President Xi Jinping has set a clear vision for the future of the country's state-level economic and technological development zones. In a recent instruction, Xi urged these zones to continuously stimulate innovation and foster endogenous momentum, emphasizing the importance of high-standard opening up for in-depth reform and high-quality development.

Reflecting on the past four decades, Xi highlighted the significant contributions of these development zones in establishing new systems for a higher-level open economy, coordinating regional growth, and driving high-quality development. He stressed that these zones should remain focused on Chinese modernization by promoting advanced manufacturing, green and digital industries, and creating digital and future-oriented sectors tailored to local conditions.

Xi also called for active participation in high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, expanding international partnerships, and innovating investment promotion methods. The goal is to elevate the \"Invest in China\" brand, making it synonymous with reliability and excellence on the global stage.

The importance of consolidating and improving the industrial foundation was another key point, with a push towards high-end and sustainable industries. These efforts aim to build new quality productive forces that align with the changing global economic landscape.

The symposium celebrating the 40th anniversary of China's state-level economic and technological development zones was held in Tianjin, where Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng conveyed Xi's instructions and delivered a comprehensive speech outlining the path forward.
