Chinese VP Han Zheng to Attend Indonesian President’s Inauguration and Visit Brunei

In a move to strengthen diplomatic ties, Chinese Vice President Han Zheng, serving as the special representative of President Xi Jinping, is set to attend the inauguration of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto in Jakarta on October 20. Following the inauguration, Han will embark on a visit to Indonesia from October 19 to 21, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning announced on Friday.

Continuing his diplomatic tour, Han Zheng will visit Brunei from October 21 to 23. Mao highlighted that China and Indonesia share a profound traditional friendship and have developed close, deep cooperation over the years. Under the strategic leadership of both nations, their bilateral relations have sustained robust growth, entering a new phase of jointly building a community with a shared future.

During the inauguration, Han will engage in in-depth discussions with President Prabowo on bilateral relations and mutual interests. Mao emphasized that at this pivotal moment, China is committed to working closely with Indonesia to advance their longstanding friendship, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, and elevate their community-building efforts to new heights, contributing to both countries' modernization processes and regional prosperity.

Regarding Brunei, Mao noted that China and the nation enjoy a long history of profound friendship and steady bilateral relations. President Xi Jinping has previously met with Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah during the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting, providing strategic guidance for the growth of their relations. During his visit, Han Zheng will hold talks with both Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah and Crown Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah.

Through these visits, China aims to further its traditional friendship with Brunei, expand cooperation across various sectors, and strengthen the strategic partnership. These efforts are expected to inject positive energy into regional peace, stability, and prosperity, fostering closer ties between the peoples of China, Indonesia, and Brunei.
