The Chinese premier, Xi Jinping, on Thursday afternoon inspected the cities of Anqing and Hefei in the east Chinese mainland’s Anhui Province.
During his visit, Xi, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, explored Liuchi Alley in Tongcheng City of Anqing and Hefei Binhu Science City.
At Liuchi Alley, he viewed displays of Tongcheng's history and culture, highlighting the alley's embodiment of ancient Chinese wisdom. Xi emphasized the importance of comity and peace, urging efforts to address issues affecting people's well-being and resolving social disputes.
In Hefei Binhu Science City, Xi examined major scientific and technological innovations achieved by the Chinese mainland in recent years and engaged in discussions with researchers and business leaders.
He underscored that scientific and technological innovation is a crucial path to modernization, noting that the CPC Central Committee highly values scientists and technologists. Xi encouraged them to take bold steps, continue their hard work, and contribute their expertise to achieve self-reliance and strength in science and technology.
