Chinese Premier Li Qiang made significant strides in strengthening China-Pakistan ties during his recent visit to Islamabad. At the 23rd Meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of Member States of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Premier Li emphasized the importance of deepening cooperation within the organization.
Prior to the SCO meeting, Premier Li joined Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif at a ceremony marking the completion of the New Gwadar International Airport project. \"China is willing to work with Pakistan, focusing on establishing an upgraded version of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC),\" Premier Li told Prime Minister Sharif.
The New Gwadar International Airport is a cornerstone of the CPEC initiative, poised to transform Gwadar into a vital regional hub. Featuring state-of-the-art infrastructure, including new runways, taxiways, and passenger terminals, the airport showcases the deepening collaboration between China and Pakistan.
\"We aim to accelerate the construction of major projects in areas such as railways, roads, and ports and strengthen industrial integration,\" Premier Li stated during his visit. Faiz Ullah Khattak, the project manager, highlighted that the advanced Chinese technology employed in the airport will significantly boost local socio-economic progress and better integrate Gwadar into global supply chains.
This development not only enhances Gwadar's infrastructure but also underscores the unique friendship between China and Pakistan, paving the way for future collaborations under the CPEC framework.
