China Calls on Japan to Pursue Peaceful Path Amid Yasukuni Shrine Controversy

The Chinese Foreign Ministry has made a strong appeal to Japan, urging the nation to distance itself from militaristic tendencies and embrace a path of peaceful development.

Mao Ning, a spokesperson for the ministry, emphasized the importance of Japan reflecting on its history of aggression. \"We urge Japan to see squarely and reflect on the history of aggression and act prudently on historical issues such as the Yasukuni Shrine,\" Mao stated.

This call comes in response to reports that Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba made a ritual offering at the Yasukuni Shrine during its autumn festival. The ministry highlighted that the Yasukuni Shrine serves as a symbol for Japanese militarists responsible for the war of aggression, honoring 14 convicted Class-A war criminals for their severe responsibilities in wartime atrocities.

Mao Ning stressed that Japan needs to rebuild trust with its Asian neighbors and the international community through concrete and meaningful actions. This move is seen as essential for fostering better diplomatic relations and ensuring regional stability.
