China Criticizes US Arms Sales to Taiwan Region as Costly and Ineffective

A spokesperson for China's Ministry of National Defense sharply criticized the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities in the Taiwan region for seeking weapons from the United States, labeling the sales as a waste of the region's hard-earned resources.

Wu Qian voiced his concerns on Tuesday, addressing media reports that accused U.S. arms sales to Taiwan of involving fraud. He described these accusations as merely \"the tip of the iceberg\" and criticized the arms with a \"sky-high price\" but \"obsolete functions.\"

Wu further stated, \"It is evident that the DPP authorities bought pieces of junk that only benefit corrupted officials and arms dealers.\"

Emphasizing the futility of pursuing Taiwan independence with external support, Wu cautioned, \"Those who try to rely on the U.S. support for independence will only court their own destruction.\"
